Sherwood Forest

The name Sherwood Forest immediately conjures up stories of Robin Hood and his band of Merry Men hiding out in dark and mysterious woodlands. The other Sherwood Forest, Sherwood Forest Park in Brisbane's inner southwest has a similar beauty and mystery, with huge grassy spaces and rolling hills stretching out to the Brisbane River. It is one of the most beautiful parks in Brisbane and a popular spot with locals, without the overcrowding and stress of finding a decent spot to set up for the day that comes with a lot of the more popular inner-city parks. Venman Bushland National Park
![]() |
A popular recreational site for decades, Venman Bushland National Park - with its mixture of eucalypt and angophora trees - is home to koalas, possums, gliders, wallabies, powerful owls and many other bird species. Originally private property, the park protects the headwaters of Tingalpa Creek. Frogs, water-rats and water dragons live in and around this creek and the surrounding waterholes. The park offers a couple of signposted, easy to moderate walking tracks as well as a picnic and barbecue area where you can sometimes spot wallabies. The park now forms part of the Koala Bushland Coordinated Conservation Area, managed by the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service. For more information, please click here. |
