Tiananmen Square

Tiananmen Square is situated in the centre of Beijing City, and is the original gate of the Imperial Palace (more commonly known as the Forbidden City). The square has borne witness to a great deal of modern history, from the demonstrations by students of the May 4th Movement against foreign powers in 1919 to the recent parades in 2009 marking the 60th anniversary of The People's Republic of China. Summer Palace

The Summer Palace in Beijing – first built in 1750, largely destroyed in the war of 1860 and restored on its original foundations in 1886 – is a masterpiece of Chinese landscape garden design. Cuandixia Village

Cuandixia Village is located in Zhaitang Town, Mentougou District about 90 kilometers from downtown Beijing. It has a history of about 400 years. The village, surrounded by mountains, stands on the northern gentle slope of the hills and, having being built in harmony with the terrain of the mountains, and it looks like a castle or a mountain city. The houses, which are in good order, have delicate gate piers as well as distinctive screen walls and, along with the stone, wood and brick carvings, reflect their ancient Chinese culture.
